1984 by George Orwell Winston Smith, lives in a land called Oceania. Here information is manipulated, and people’s actions are controlled and watched through global two-way televisions and an extensive spy network. Those who break rules either vanish or are ruthlessly punished. Smith tries to rebel ...

Big brother is watching you. Big brother knows of every move that you make, Big brother knows of every step that you take, Big Brother knows every single thing that you do, because you have no right to privacy. What a world to live in, huh? We are getting close to that world with every single day be...

I've been meaning to reread this for a while and I'm glad I finally got around to it. A lot has been said about this book, but I guess for me it represents an interesting way to look at human psychology and the nature of truth and doublethink (the cognitive dissonance is awesome). Really the only ...

This book is quite terrifying. I think most everyone but me has read it or was forced to read it in high school. I was a delinquent student and missed out on this book somehow and decided to read it now. Don’t ask me why. It is perhaps a very bad time to decide to read this book about a world where ...

...more relevant than ever! Everyone should read this at least once in their lives! It should also be mandatorily read in school (this counts for Austria, as I don't think students have to read this here).

Started of great. I got pulled in to Winstons 1984 world. The whole big brother is watching, the elite ruling the masses. But then near the end I started to lose interest and felt the nicely flowing tale was rushed to end.

So I'm on a mission to read several dystopians before I get sick of it like I did with the vampires. This one while as disturbing as Brave New World, and seems to be relevant for the 2017-2021 years at the moment, I didn't enjoy it like I did with Brave New World. That being said it is a bit more ...

I am so disappointed and so jealous. I'm jealous of those who read this book and loved it so much they gave it 5 stars. I can see why it's a classic and I can see why so many would love this book but I did not.Parts of it (especially Book 2 - Chapter 9) read like an economic and political textbook a...

Rating: To ComeWow, this book is mind blowing, seriously! "WAR IS PEACEFREEFOM IS SLAVERYIGNORANCE IS STRENGTH."Such power and meaning in these three lines. These are so true not only in our 21st century, but also 30 to 40 years ago. I am only 20 pages into this book, and I must admit that it is k...
