Nestled in the heart of the Adirondacks, Miller's Kill, New York is about as safe as it gets. That's why Episcopal minister Clare Fergusson is shocked when the July Fourth weekend brings a rash of vicious assaults to the scenic town. Even Clare's good friend, police chief Russ Van Alstyne, is shaken...

I have read this before, but I had totally forgotten how intense the last 25% of the book is. I don't know where I was or what I was doing when I gulped down this series, but I most certainly read them all in a few weeks and adored them. Clare Fergusson is a marvel to me, fascinating both as a priest and a pilot.

3.5 stars. This reads more like an action flick than a mystery; lots of excitement with helicopters, planes, and chases. I didn't enjoy it as much as the first of the series; now that Russ and Clare are aware of their attraction to each other, there was less emphasis on their relationship, as both ...
