I went to the theatre to see a performance of Macbeth (I am not superstitious, therefore I can say that) last week and that actually got me in the mood for some Shakespeare. But instead of re-reading one of his tragedies (out of which I really enjoy Macbeth the most, but this review actually has not...

The last time I read this was in 9th grade Pre-AP English back in Fall 2005. I had to do an oral report about it where I dressed up in an Elizabethan outfit. I enjoyed my re-read and listening to it while reading helped a lot. I also used No Fear Shakespeare too because I'm not in school anymore and...

Well I am happy that I finally finished my William Shakespeare list from 2015. This last one was a bugger. As I said in my quick update, I thought the whole thing rhymed so much it took me out of the play. I found myself saying lines out loud to myself and then kind of bee bopping around my living r...

More of a 2.5 star read. It was OK. I read this as part of my 2015 book challenge, to read a play. I think it would be much more enjoyable to watch as a play.

Lyrical and mesmerizing! I got a dramatized audio copy of this book. It really brings this story to life!A very different love story for the ages. Couplings, love triangles, love quads, and love chases. It is all here. Thank you fantasy forest for all this wonderful chaos. Some parts a whimsica...

"If we shadows have offended,/Thing but this--and all is mended--/That you have but slumber'd here/While these visions did appear./And this weak and idle theme,/No more yielding but a dream,/Gentles, do not reprehend;/If you pardon, we will mend./And, as I'm an honest Puck,/If we have unearned luck/...

Published 2005. I have had a most rare vision. I have had a dream, past the wit of man to say what dream it was. Man is but an ass, if he go about to expound this dream. Methought I was— there is no man can tell what. Methought I was—and methought I had—but man is but a patch’d fool, if he will of...

"And though she be but little, she is fierce." - Helena. A Midsummer Night's Dream. Act 3, scene 2I didn't give this two stars because it was bad per se, but because it was sort of boring. I think this is a play I would much have preferred to watch live on stage instead of hassling through a book. U...

If the best way to learn a play is to actually act it out this is the only Shakespeare I have truly learned, despite excellent dramatic readings in AP English of numerous other plays. In middle school I was in a bad production of A Midsummer Night's dream in the role of a rather awkward Lysander, awk...

As a freshman in high school, I took Brit Lit this year. We read A Tale of Two Cities and Lord of the Flies over the summer, and I absolutely could not stand (or understand) ATTC, and LOTF was not much better. We started off the year with Beowulf, which was decent but a little to predictable for my ...
