I was born in East London, South Africa, on 22 May 1965. An exciting year - the Beatles were at the top of the charts, the first astronauts "walked" in space and the mini-skirt was all the rage. It was also the Chinese year of the snake. I grew up on a farm and rode horses from about the age of three. Even as a child I began making up simple poems and stories. By the time I attended Clarendon Girls High School in East London, I knew what I wanted to be - a published author.I began working as a mailing clerk at a local company and was promoted to receptionist after a year. 1985 was an exciting year for me - I joined a tour and travelled around America for 2 months and I met and fell in love with my future husband. We married in 1988 and moved to Johannesburg. I continued working as a receptionist/secretary. I did a writing course and my first article was published by Thandi Magazine in 1993. I was well and truly hooked on writing and completed my first book about a talking cat called Gatsby which was never published. In 1995 my daughter was born and a year later we immigrated to England. We lived there for five years during which time I completed my training as a teacher's assistant before moving across the channel to The Hague in the Netherlands. I continued writing all this time, mainly poems, but without much success. That special story kept on eluding me until we went on holiday to Norway and Sweden in 2004. We stayed in a beautiful old house on the edge of a lake in Norway and there the Legend of Dragonmoon was born. The entire story originates from 3 ideas - a big green house, three old ladies and Dragonmoon, the name of a small road in the forest. From the start I knew that this was the story I had been waiting for all my life. Still, it took another 5 years before the book was completed and finally published in July 2009. People ask me if there will be more books in the Dragonmoon series and the answer is always, yes. This story is too big to fit into just one book. I am already writing the sequel. I also intend to publish the poems I wrote in England and I have ideas for other books as well. I would love to write a murder mystery one day or write short stories about all the funny and strange things that happened on our farm in South Africa or finish the book I had just started called the "The Treehouse Gang" when I discovered Dragonmoon. I hope you have enjoyed this journey through my life and I trust that you will accompany me into the future through my stories and poems.
