4 stars This was cute! I liked having a science nerd heroine and the Cinderella vibe was fun. The villain was painfully obvious, though, and Thabiso's disapproving parents - nope! Glad I don't have to deal with them on a daily basis.Full review I took one look at the cover for A Princess in Theory a...

This is a novella that was originally published in the anthology Daughters of a Nation. I read this for square 7 (International Human Rights Day) as it takes place in Harlem (in 1917) as the state of New York prepares to vote in the November elections, especially the amendment to the state constit...

I picked up the book for Milan, but also, Hamilton! Three charming stories that explore three different couples with different connections to the the war. All three of these do what I love most in an historic setting: create a realistic scenario, but focus on characters who are traditionally overloo...

Quite an enjoyable romance novel where nothing is easy. This is set during the American Civil War and doesn't shy away from the horrors of slavery or give the hero a white savior role. A+ romance arc. A+ spy adventure plot. A+ heroine. Basically just a great read all around.

Maggie gets her turn. She was 16 or so in the first 2 books. Typical, bratty teen in those books IMO. Fast forward 4 years and Maggie is going off on her own for an education. It was nice Maggie got her story. She left home, found love, saved the world, and returned home. I liked the epilogue, she's...

John catches Mykhail in his family's garden. They take him in. After finding out he is going to a nearby University to seek his professor (who predicted this would happen). We find out what happened! In theory, this *could* happen real life. (Unlikely the whole world, which from what I understand, h...

Arden and her roommate John travel to John's parents remote cabin in NY after the power mysteriously goes out. No phone, internet, TV, electricity, etc. Arden meets John's older brother Gabriel and sister Maggie. Overall, I enjoyed this. The characters are likable and I wanted to know more about the...

I have been sorely slacking at updating My Thoughts on the books I've read recently. No good reason. *LOL* Anyway... Signal Boost. This is the second of the Off The Grid trilogy and it stars the younger brother of the first book's hero. He comes across another young man in the family garden ...

This novella can be purchased both as a separate book and part of the multi-author anthology Juneteenth. I read this in honor of Loving Day. Sofie Wallis was raised to be a good, docile daughter and future wife by her father after her mother died. When the story opens, Sofie is already battling th...
