Amelia Bedelia is a fun loving character for probably first and second graders. Amelia makes mistakes and gets confused quite often. She is a great way for students to learn that everyone makes mistakes and it's ok to do so. I would use these in my classroom library for students to have access to.

2nd Grade Amelia Bedelia takes everything literally. When house sitting for the Rogers family, she is asked to do several things throughout the house. She was told to draw the drapes and instead of closing them she sat down and drew them on paper. Her literal way of thinking is always getting her ...

Who doesn't love Amelia Bedelia? She is a great beginning reader series and with her crazy antics, she keeps kids engaged as they are reading. My favorite illustration has always been the 'dressed' chicken in a box. And dang it, that lemon meringue pie ...

Amelia Bedelia is a maid/cook with mad baking skillz but who can only hold one definition of a word in her mind. When told to "run over the sheets with an iron" she does not iron the sheets, she runs across them. Kids find this amusing. I find it inexplicable.Library copy.

Amelia Bedelia was clumsy and not the sharpest tool in the shed. I still liked her antics.

This was the first book that I could read parts of all by myself! A magical moment! I ran to my mom, beat my little fists on her door, and shouted, "Mom! Come out! I can read!" Out she did come and she was so happy. Of course she wanted to see me read. I pointed to a word on one of the pages and ann...
