Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
David Pirie: "The Patient's Eyes" (ISBN 13: 9781933648439; ISBN 10: 1933648430)
Victor Pelevin: "The Life of Insects" (ISBN 13: 9780140279726; ISBN 10: 0140279725)
Edgar Allan Poe: "The Gold Bug" (ISBN 13: 9781843911449; ISBN 10: 1843911442)

Also, at the risk of mentioning the obvious, Franz Kafka: "The Metamorphosis" (ISBN 13: 9781936594009; ISBN 10: 1936594005)

And, I haven't read a whole lot by Lovecraft, but I'm sure he must have written *something* involving these sorts of critters?
Murder by Death
Added; I blocked out Kafka from my consciousness b/c ugh... roaches. ::shudder::

Hopefully someone will chime in with a Lovecraft rec. I'm sure he has something that fits here, but I don't know anything about his work.
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
Haha, I so get that approach to Kafka / Samsa!
Books, hockey, and a bucketful of snark
I had to read Metamorphosis for school. Never again. Though I can recommend this (Samsa meets Dr Seuss)

Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
Will have to listen to this at home (no speakers on the office computer) -- but the sheer combination of the two says "riot" loud and clear!
Murder by Death
Dr. Seuss *almost* makes me want to check this out... but roaches! Ugh! @Themis: I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this if you give it a listen. :)
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
Oh, it's totally hilarious (though poignant ending all in place) -- and very clever, too. No hideousness to be feared! Thanks for sharing, BHBS!
Murder by Death
Yes - thanks for that, it was wonderful. Hilarious, but yes, a bit heart wrenching at the end. Especially that last letter...
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
Uh-huh.
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
I don't know whether a creepy crawly critter's appearance in the title of a book is enough, but just in case it is:

James D. Doss: "Grandmother Spider" (ISBN 13: 9780380803941; ISBN 10: 0380803941) -- mystery involving shamanism etc.; also works for "Supernatural," "Genre: Mystery" and "Diverse Authors"
Rex Stout: "The Golden Spiders" (ISBN 13: 9780553277807; ISBN 10: 0553277804)
Robert Arthur: "The Mystery of the Silver Spider" (ISBN 13: 9780394916637; ISBN 10: 0394916638) -- 3 Investigators series (YA), also works for "YA Horror"
Italo Calvino: "The Path to the Spider's Nests" (ISBN 13: 9780060956585; ISBN 10: 0060956585)
Manuel Puig: "The Kiss of the Spider Woman" (ISBN 10: 0679724494; ISBN 13: 9780679724490)

Also, I have not read these, but judging by their descriptions they might fit:
R.L. Stine: "The Creepy Creations of Professor Shock" (ISBN 13: 9780590847742; ISBN 10: 0590847740), "Alone in Snakebite Canyon" (ISBN 13: 9780590399975; ISBN 10: 0590399977), and "Welcome to Camp Slither" (ISBN 13: 9780439918770; ISBN 10: 0439918774)
