Yeah, that's why I said "If you can find it." It was available for kindle briefly a couple of years ago (I think), but has been out of print at least 20 years, I think.

I'm reading The Beekeeper's Apprentice right now & one of the cases involve the kidnapping of the six-year-old daughter of an American Senator! He is briefly in the book, and would qualify as an "American politician". It's the first in the Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes series, so if you've been interested in that series, here's an excuse to try it!
