Reading list: Halloween Book Bingo - Murder Most Foul

Created by: Murder by Death

Murder mysteries. This really doesn't call for a list, as there aren't any parameters outside "mystery", but to make things interesting for those looking for something different, I'm making this list classic mysteries, along the vein of Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayers. They're on this list, but so too are a lot of lesser known but deserving titles, mostly from the Golden Age. If they aren't in reprint, they're likely available free on Project Gutenberg.

Question: Do you want to keep the "Golden Age Mystery" spin? What I've culled so far from the bingo participants' reading lists would go against that spin ... Since the category is extremely wide, should we maybe have two lists; this one according to your original conception and another one for all the other murder mysteries?

Murder by Death
I'm not sure - I only really did it to begin with because 'any mystery' is just too wide open (almost 'high long is a piece of string' kind of thing), to keep a list of any value (in my opinion), so I thought it would be fun to focus on the lesser known mysteries (although I do realise I've put Christie and Sayers on it too), or older titles for those that want to venture further into the mystery genre.

I'm not wed to keeping this strictly about old/golden age/classic mysteries,, but I will say I don't think I want to try to maintain a general mystery list, simply because there'd be no end to it and I think a list that's too long can be as unhelpful as a list that's too short.

Does that sound daft?
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
No, that's pretty much what I'm thinking as well, that's why I asked (without even posting what I've culled from the participant reading plan posts so far). And needless to say, I like the "Golden Age" focus anyway!

ETA: I created a separate list, just for the participants' choices:

Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
OK, a few books from the participants' reading plan lists actually fit your variant of this category:

To Love and Be Wise by Josephine Tey (9780099556749)
Miss Pym Disposes by Josephine Tey (9780099556695)
The Singing Sands by Josphine Tey (9780099556732)
The Mystery of The Yellow Room by Gaston Leroux (9780008167035)
Laurels are Poison by Gladys Mitchell (9781601870704)
