As Mrs Briggs first work I recognize that, as she herself says, the work is unpolished. Her storytelling though was absolutely wonderful. I prefer when Briggs writes Fantasy. Hopefully I'll be able to find the next book in the series without having to pay a fortune. Off to my next read...Cheers Pret...

Just finished and while its not as good as briggs' other stuff (obviously with it being her first) Masques was still a good read. More so in fact than quite a few other authors i have come across. Briggs clearly has talent in spades and has for quite a while. Her characters where good. The evil Ch...

I meant to write a review yesterday, oh well.I did like this one more than Briggs' other old fantasy romance novels. But yes of course it could have been much better. It was also rushed and could have been dragged out to a thick trilogy. Sure there is a book 2, but this book ended with the bad guy b...

Disclaimer: I read (listened to) the updated 2010 version which had been re-written and fleshed out considerably (according to the author's introduction), and was almost twice the length of the original 1993 release.I really struggled to rate this one. It's so hard not to compare it to her Mercy Tho...

I love Patricia Briggs. There I've said it.Now you know that this is going to be biased. You could tell it was an earlier book in that the storytelling was raw. The plot was interesting and the characters were intriguing but they felt a little underdeveloped. Again, it's what happens in a first book....

2.5 starsOne of Briggs's earliest works, which sadly shows, but it was an interesting concept and I liked the characters tremendously. I would have loved to have seen this book had she not written it until this juncture in her writing career - would be so interesting to see the differences. It is ver...

I love Ms. Briggs ability to write female and male characters that are equally strong and independent. This her first book had such wonderful leads, Aralorn and Wolf. She is a smart, independent, smart arse, nobel turned savior. The Wolf, an heir, damaged and hated by his father. The two of them dan...

Wasn't sure what to think of when I first started reading this book. It is deemed a paranormal romance and I guess there is some relationship in it but it's definitely NOT what I would call a romance. The book starts a bit slow but picks up fast, sucking you into a world of adventure and magic.

Patricia Briggs didn't let me down. This was an amazing story told by an amazing author. I love that it has shapeshifters, mages, and lots of folklore. While it is definitely different from any of the books I've read by her, it still has the ability to draw you and keep you wanting more.
