And keep it interesting. Even if research offered the many h...

I think Høeg is a very talented writer, but this book didn't quite come together for him. Parts of the book, especially when Peter was creeping around the school at night to save his friend August, were tense in a beautifully quiet way and I was moved. Other parts were very abstract discussions on t...

Part 1001 Nights, part Playboy, all brilliance. Not so sure this would have been 5* if I hadn't...

"How do the pieces of a life fit together?"This is the central question posed by Kjærstad throughout this book, and answered in full. By using a mysterious third person narrator to tell stories about the life of the central character, Jonas Wergeland, Kjærstad not only tells us how the pieces of a l...

Interesting and satisfying. The characters never quite came to life for me emotionally but certainly engaged me mentally. Good story and ends well which is always really difficult to do.
