It felt like that sometimes. It picked up very nicely, though it took long enough though. A shitty way for Essex to take his leave. It should have been Diamond.

I thought I'd take a break from cozy mysteries and read a real mystery for a change. This one was recommended by a friend, with the caveat that it was gory. And there were moments when it was a little bloody, but after reading Stuart MacBride, I 'd have to say it was lite gory. Like, PG-13 gory, ...

For years people had been telling me just how fantastic Mo Hayder's detectives are, so you might not be surprised to learn that my expectation for this novel were extremely high. Not just was I expecting an enjoyable detective, I expected one that would blow my mind. Unfortunately, but perhaps under...

I really liked this book, particularly because of the less-then-perfect main character with a dark past. That being said, this is a very, very dark book. If you don't like violence, I wouldn't recommend this book to you. Personally I don't mind it, sometimes it's what the book needs to keep it intere...

This book is like a ride that starts out rather slow and appears harmless enough until you realize, too late, that it is about really mess you up. I was reading along, enjoying the tour of London and the exposure to British terms that I had never heard before, admiring the detail of the forensics (...

This was one of my Dominican Vacation reads. As I read so many books this week, I will be doing a shorter review than normal. Creepy. Creepy. Creepy. - 3 It is my personal belief that given the right set of circumstances ANYONE is capable of murder. If someone tells me that they are not capab...

This was my first read from Mo Hayder and I was not disappointed. I don’t know that it was overly shocking or had a lot of twists and turns, but it did not really need it. The story was clean and well paced. It never got dull or dragged and the action was perfectly timed. I really liked the series l...

A bit too gruesome for my taste. I would rather Ms. Hayder (and yes, I Googled her when I realized I was assuming a male) spend more time on character development than on the brutality. I liked the protagonist but the other characters seemed one-dimensional.Overall, the story moved along and there...

With its dark, disturbing storyline and graphical details of the deviant crimes, Birdman surely promised to make readers shiver down to their spines. While the writing may be a little shaky and plain at the beginning, it did improve drastically when the plot thickens and piece of puzzle started to d...
