I mean come on...for someone who lived her teenage years in love with Magnum PI, this series is hitting all my buttons. Set in the glorious 80s in Chicago with our PI Nick Nowak who yes is described sounding a lot like our dear Tom Selleck but who thankfully is gay gay gay and who loves sex. The inv...

I'm so sorry but for some reason, this was hard for me to read. I can't tell if it's the era I don't like which I don't. Or the hardcore hardboiled detective vibe but I wanted it to end. I think if its ever on Audibles I be able to get into it. Marshall Thornton can write, there is no doubt about th...

This is written about the early 80's. It really took me there. During the time period, gays weren't accepted and safe sex wasn't a big deal. It isn't romanticized. If you're looking for something romantic or erotic, this probably isn't for you. The mysteries are great. The lead role is real, n...

Ack... I loved this! Chicago, early 1980s, quaaludes, and the hot guys in bikini underwear! I cannot even begin to tell you all the buttons Nick Nowak pushes for me. While I am a confirmed Californian now, I grew up in the Chicago area and spent many impressionable years there, so I feel like Nick a...

He is smart but reckless. He is promiscuous, yet very lonely. He might appear as cold and sometimes ruthless, but he is hurt too. And he is sexy as hell...Marshall Thornton's vivid writing makes Nick so real, it was like watching 3D movie. I just wish I could hide and 'watch' it undisturbed ;)

There are so many good reviews already, that this is just a quickie. I really enjoyed this compilation of three good, old fashioned detective stories. Set in 1981, Nick Nowak is a gruff, no-nonsense private eye straight out of the Philip Marlowe era. A former Chicago police officer who two years ...

Did I like it? Yes. Will I read Volume 2? Probably not.I found the stories in Vol 1 entertaining, but I don't think I could read a lot more of the same. I needed more something. Passion? Emotion? I'm not exactly sure. Maybe it was that the MC was so detached from everything that I couldn't co...

thisthisand thisA bit similar to the Dick Hardesty mysteries by [a:Dorien Grey|38845|Dorien Grey|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/authors/1357498084p2/38845.jpg] but way much better. Loved it. Recommended to all those readers who can see romance hidden in a cloud of smoke, alcohol, guns and c...

DNF at 55%...I'm able to read about a lot of things, but in this book I found a limit. Drugs. Serving a pill as "dessert" after dinner between the MC, his friend and another "friend" and then casually going to the bedroom to have a threesome (see update at 52%). "If more people had group sex the wor...
