The first in a series. The French countryside, cuisine, patriotism, and murder.
Quite a good debut mystery. The main attraction for me was the small French village setting. I thought the author did a good job introducing all the characters and, though the pace was a bit leisurely, the plot was nicely done. Listened to the audio version which was narrated by Robert Ian MacKenzie...
I really enjoy BRUNO, CHIEF OF POLICE, http://tinyurl.com/lahpkuy review at my blog, because a veteran gets a job, loves his town, cherishes his way of life, educates the local kids, and solves a crime...and remains a good guy throughout. The antithesis of noir, so be warned/encouraged!
