The book and movie are very close, but they did cut a few things out when they made the movie... Some of the best lines of the book, I think, but ones that don't necessarily translate as well into a movie. I don't know, for instance, that bit about the spider crying has always stuck with me really hard.

*nods* True. I remember the spider pretty vividly too. I rewatched the movie last night with my guy, and it led to a lengthy and meaty discussion about differences, as well as how some motivations/actions are clearer in the book.
