Great review! I never read this one.

Thanks. :) I'm reading the whole canon with Troy. It is a lot of fun, even tho this is not one of the strongest stories - because of that weird rift... Btw, the Utah part is quite Atwoodian.
Wow sounds like a fun reading project.

Awesome review! And I have to admit I use "Sherlock" but only when using the possessive form, because I purely hate the way Holmes' sounds when I say it. Silly, I know, but I feel like I'm stuttering when I try to say Holmes'. :)

So now that you've listened to the first full novel - which character's voice made you most aware that it was Fry reading it? I almost always got so lost in the narrative that there was only one character that I ever would have recognised as Fry's voice. And I can't help but wonder if it's on purpose or if I'm just imagining things.

Hm, interesting. It's not Watson, not all the time anyway. He reads Watson as if he is standing while hunched over most of the time - for some reason that is how I picture it.He also adds in more high-pitched endings than I remember from his other readings. His Holmes, I think, is very much closer to his natural speech, but not all the time either.
Which would make this even more admirable as a performance because most of the Canon is told by Watson.

Yep - so I'm not just making things up! And yes, his Watson, as you go further on, becomes harder and harder to hear Fry in; he becomes Watson. But his Holmes... I can't help but hear Fry in Holmes most of the time (in a good way - not a criticism of his performance). And as you say, Watson's the biggest part here by far, which leads me to believe Fry maybe identifies with Holmes the most.

Thus ends my pop psychology for the day. ;-)
Ooooh, I love that gif!!
