Thanks. I have two more books in this series and I will at least give the next one a chance: if it has the same issues within the first 20%, I'll DNF them both.
That exchange about foreigners and their dwellings sounds up to date in all the worst possible ways -- both in content and tone.
Yup. It is. I could have lived with the dated content and tone if the story had had some redeeming features and less ... stupidity, but alas...

Well, I´m keeping my fingers crossed that the next book won´t be a dud. But then, I imagine it´s a liberating feeling to eliminate two books at once from your TBR, if it turns out to be DNF. You can´t loose either way, BT :)
