See, I'm screwed because I haven't finished my books from before...
BrokenTune 6 years ago
I still have 1/3 of a non-bingo book to finish as well as 2/3 of the pre-read, but I love the countdown anyway...
Tannat 6 years ago
I feel better to know I'm not alone...but I have half of one and 75 pages of another....plus some other books that I paused in favour of the library books...

You're definitely not alone - I have 2 books in currently reading that aren't going to be finished up any time soon because I don't have them with me. :)

I think I'm going to return one book to the library with the plan to take it out again after Bingo.
BrokenTune 6 years ago
That is very sensible. After all, that is what a library is for right, you can come back for it.
Tannat 6 years ago
It is a really interesting book...it's just...Bingo...
BrokenTune 6 years ago
And it wouldn't fit into a square?

I started it way before (we can't count books that were started before Sept 1, right?), but no (Engineering Animals). As it is, I'm currently trying to finish of Squid Empire because it's due to today.

It hurt but I put The Prince & the Pauper aside & picked up The Conjure Wife (which I'd put down earlier) & The Auctioneer. My currently reading list on this site is constantly expanding.

That is one of the primary dangers of BL. :D
BrokenTune 6 years ago
Yup. Welcome to the fray!

You guys can at least give me some hope!!
BrokenTune 6 years ago
Hope? LoL.

Instead, we can promise that there will be lots of indecision in the early hours of tomorrow about how many more books to add to the currently reading shelf, and which ones. ;D
Tannat 6 years ago
And there may be some strategizing due to length...
BrokenTune 6 years ago
Absolutely. :)
Ha! I am glad I got caught up with the freebie read. I thought I wouldn't make it at first. Don't forget first call is tomorrow!

I *was* hopeful of finishing current reads in time, but Netgalley keeps approving more books!

I have a Newton's Cradle in my office!

...and now you need to convince me that you're not spending all day doing what the Cookie Monster demonstrates in this pic. ;D

Although, I would have no issue if you did...
No, I have my magnetic egg timer, solar radiometer, chaotic pendulum, the Bath Bears and Rauridh the Tiger to play with, too...also, work.
BrokenTune 6 years ago
Oooh, these all sound like excellent "projects". :)
BrokenTune 6 years ago
Ooooh. What does the Radiometer do?
It spins if you put it in direct sunlight.
BrokenTune 6 years ago
Cool! Is it based on a kind of heat exchange?
Arguments rage regarding how it works! The usual explanation is that the differential expansion of the black and silver sides of the vanes propels it.
BrokenTune 6 years ago
Oh, it is fun and controversial?!?!? I love it!
Maybe you should get one?
I've been tempted to set a student project to investigate the various theories.

I think it may look very nice on my office windowsill. :)
I'm confident it would.
