I had to do a double take. My copy of Footsteps in the Dark by Georgette Heyer has the same artwork on the cover.

Yup -- these are stock photos. I've seen them on mystery series by completely different authors, too.

Yep, old paintings are also used on multiple books covers, too.

Still, it always gives me a jolt whenever I see two books with the same picture or piece of art on the cover, lol.
