I'm curious what you're going to make of the Virginia Woolf.

"Somebody at the Door" shares certain similarities with "Verdict of Twelve" in case you've already read that one, though the story is different of course.

I rather enjoyed "Smallbone Deceased" (it certainly features a very unusual "storage place" for a dead body -- and I liked Gilbert's sense of humor). You definitely made the right choice in going for the print edition there; the audio I have is awful.

"Settling Scores" is still on my TBR ...

What can I say, Settling Score has tennis player on the cover and it is "would-have-been-Wimbledon" month... ;)

I loved Verdict of Twelve so I do have high hopes for Somebody at the Door. Likewise, I have high hopes for Gilbert as I think it was you who mentioned that it was humorous. :)

As for the Woolf, we'll see. In any case, the book is very pretty.
I liked "Verdict of Twelve" better than "Somebody at the Door", but YMMV of course -- and I just may have read them in the "wrong" order to get familiar with the underlying concept (i.e., Postgate being more interested in the background of a certain group of people than in the event that brought them all together). Certainly "Somebody at the Door" has a more poignant background setting for its several individuals than does "Verdict of Twelve" -- so who knows, upon revisiting it (which I just may end up doing at some point), my opinion may improve.

Gilbert is definitely an author I'm planning to explore in greater depth at some point.

Excellent. I may have to toss a coin at the weekend to see which one to start first. :)

One can appreciate the aesthetics as well as the contents. :)

Very true. So long as the pretty covers don't lie. ;)

True. But then one has to curse the inner pages while still appreciating the cover.

That is very true.
