Yes, that was one of the books I was thinking of. My favorite Emma novels are Patricia Bracewell's. Shadow on the Crown is one....can't remember the other title at the moment.

I have both of the Bracewell novels sitting on my shelves. One of these days I just need to stop getting library books and read what I already have. Unfortunately, I don't think my small town library could survive if I stopped ordering books. When we moved last year, the library in the previous town said their orders went down 80% after I left.

Ha! You should read them though, they're great.
