There's a special sort of disappointment when you sit down to read a book by an author you like, and it's a flop.
Totally. It's like the whole thing feels like a misadventure, trying to shoehorn in a certain kind of plot on characters that can't handle it. Such a bummer, because I really dig everything else by her.
