ETA - no luck on either, however I did find out that 'enthusiasm' had the same connotation then as 'fanaticism' does today.

My favorite is the Adventures Of an Ostrich Feather of Quality. First because I'm trying to figure out how you can tell and why it matters, then because I can picture Caroline Bingley owning it.
