Marriage of son? Someone explain that one please. Also, seems you can't win when both "immoral life" AND "religious enthusiasm" is on the list. There are a couple of other opposites, too.
"Marriage of son" I'm assuming means "empty nest syndrome" sort of thing. The similar era adage "Your daughter's your daughter all of her life, your son's your son only until he takes him a wife."
Both possibilities strike up really unpleasant mental images. Have you seen the movie Constantine with Keanue Reeves? If so, the pool scene at the end was what popped into my head when I read Uterine Derangement. :P
And why is someone standing on the sidelines witnessing without doing something (either having them committed if that's what they believe or lending a hand/more?) about it for 30 years?
Well, both approaches are not recommending letting your son marry - ever!!! ;D
There are so many that make no sense to someone not up to speed with the euphemisms of the day.
I can't remember a film of hers where I didn't like her performance.
