I'm a huge fan of fictfact. Oddly enough while site book recommendations and readers also enjoyed usually fail me, fictfact's recommendation of entire series has often been spot-on. I understand not wanting to track books on still yet more sites; but, without joining or tracking anything, the site is worth a peek at the new release calendars and to look up one series to see what others are also recommended to its fans.
I think fictfact would probably help me out a lot in regards to following new releases. I understand the hesitation to join another website because it seems like I'm joining a new website every other week. I will be looking into fictfact.
Fictfact doesn't let you review (can star rate only) and basically has no social (new books get added by filling out a form or emailing support). Once I put all my series on it stopped being a site with still yet more to keep up or a time suck; I just basically note I finished reading a series book, if I buy add a new series, glance at the next reads, and sporadically at new release calendars.
You can see all new releases for the month whether or not a member. If you are a member you can choose to see all new releases or just new releases in your series. You can follow other people's series lists but there aren't any posts or updates from followed readers.
I just joined fictfact and am trying to find my way around it right now. I've started adding series and rating books. I even just filled out a form to add a book. It might be a little bit of work right now, but as you said once you finish adding every thing it will be less work. I like what I've seen so far.
