Its an oxford university press publication. And the author does acknowledge copy editors etc, it just doesn't show. It also probably doesn't help that the guy is an English professor and has no clue about science, though for an English Professor the writing is terrible.

The book sounds like it is a good one to "miss". The whole name change scenario would have confused me no end.
