Hmmm... Google tells me that the author, Ruth Ware, is indeed British so... a bit of We All Live in America effect maybe?
Quite possibly. It was just...odd. I kept having to double-check, but I was listening and not reading and my computer was busy, so I wasn't up for Googling while listening.

Hmmm. A smart phone would be awful useful in such a situation. Just sayin'. ;)
Well, that would require me to STOP PLAYING the games on my computer, haha. That's the real problem.

Also, I'm not paying for one. :p
I hate my dumb smartphone! People won't leave me alone, EVER!

Ambidexterity. Game with one hand, phone in the other. Et voila! :P

No solution for the payment problem however, lol.
Yeah, it is a lot harder to hide from people with a smartphone, Jessica has a completely valid point. I prefer to be more particular about my availability. Can we bring back those cards and the whole concept that you can be "not at home" when you clearly are and just don't want to see people? I'm a fan of that. I'd pay for those over a smartphone.

Also, er, what games do you play that don't require two hands? :/

Hahaha, omg, they exist! Kinda coincides with the information that would be on a business card but the more artsy ones definitely look like the old fashioned kind you're talking about.

Most games use two hands, true, but I'm just good at using one hand, quickly, across the keyboard. As long as I am using -my- keyboard, that is. (^__^)v
