Thanks for the shout out. I have to admit, my answer scared me. I may have to wait a while before I attempt it again. If it says "NO!" to "should I buy more monster porn?" I will be devastated.
LOL i havent read monster porn myself, but i get a kick out of reading everyones reviews on it. so i too will be devo'd if the world told you to stop. lol.
I think this version of fortune telling used to be done with the bible - or at least I've read references about it here and there. Of course if you use a book that you read certain parts of repeatedly, the odds are high as to it falling open to those pages! Not to mention is there any way you can do this on ebooks? I don't think there's options to randomly turn to any page - or not yet anyway.
I grabbed a random 1/4 read book from the tbr. I wouldn't do this with an ebook if I could. I've tried those tarot apps and they just aren't the same as the real thing.
Well it did start me thinking about ebooks and how my mp3 player has a randomizer feature - so it probably could be done. In fact, what I would actually use - at times when I'm kinda bored with what I'm reading atm - would be an "open to the first page of one of your books" and you could set it to the books you haven't read/opened in over 6 mos for example.
That could actually be great and remind me about books I keep forgetting to read.
I believe there's actually quote books, books written from everything the dalai lama has said and how you read it is by flipping to a random page and taking meaning from that particular quote.
there not very tall but quite thick, and the quotes tend to be beautiful and inspiring.
I tried. Didn't work for me. The page/paragraph/line I opened to at random didn't tell me anything even remotely connected to my question. On the other hand, perhaps it was a No or a Maybe.
