Is this a sequel to an earlier collection, or does Volume 2 simply refer to it being a sequel to the original TV series? I wasn't clear on that, which is why I've held off nabbing the ARC.

To be honest, I'm not sure either. It reads fine as a stand alone so I don't think it would matter if you didn't read volume 1.
