Great review, and thanks for the heads up. I'd been considering this book/series as well because of the library aspect and the because I love lighthouses! But I think I may steer clear of this now. I might not know much about library security, but even I get that a simple lock and key, with the key hanging in an unlocked office, isn't good enough for a first edition Jane Austen collection. I think some people forget how valuable books like that can be, financially and historically, judging by Lucy's comment about "not a jewelry store." My understanding is that some books, texts, and manuscripts can be worth even more than even some high end jewels.
And also, a librarian being judgmental about other people's recreational reading irks me.
I don't have any good recommendations for books with lighthouses, but, as far as the library aspect goes, the first few books in Jenn McKinlay's Library Lovers Mystery series (first book is Books Can Be Deceiving) are pretty good, and I also liked Murder Past Due by Miranda James.
I think my reviewing willpower is, after months and months, slowly returning to me. I seem to be more able to dash off reviews of things I've just finished, so I'm also going back and trying to review some of the things that fell by the wayside during my reviewing slump.
