I literally just wrote a review this as well but it looks like you enjoyed it more than myself! Looking forward to seeing what you think on the second one because I dunno if I want to read the rest.

Yep it does seem to have been a bit hit and miss with readers! I really enjoyed it but then A) I'm in YA obsession at the moment and there havent been many that have not hit the mark and B) I'm a sucker for the type of cliche that tends to occur in a lot of these novels and am therefore more forgiving whereas perhaps I shouldnt be! I'll be reading the next one soon so we'll see. I think if I was rating it in comparison with other novels of its type and theme (Laini Taylor's series for example) I might have marked it lower, perhaps 2.5-3 stars. But thats not how I rate. I rate a book depending on how I've felt during the reading of it and how engaged I was. I think this was right book right time for me :)
