Yeah, they do get to China.
My question exaggerates slightly. :) I reached their getting to China, but then they had to travel through half the country ... Argh!
If traveling endlessly bothers you, I'd drop this series; they travel A LOT. In the next one they go back to Britain; via central Asia and the Ottoman Empire. Africa, Australia, Peru and Japan also get visited.
Yep, when I don't get through book 2, #3 is definitely not happening. I'll still recommend the first though!
