I think you would really enjoy this! I actually own a copy of Year of Wonders but am still trying to decide if my love for Brooks's writing outweighs my loathing for reading about sickness. She is my favorite writer who mostly writes stories I don't want to read, if that makes any sense.

I hate reading about sickness too, I used to get panic attacks whenever we learned about a disease in school
The only one of Geraldine Brooks' novels I've read is March, which was excellent.

I liked March, but I grew up on Civil War books and don't feel like there's anything new that can be done with the setting at this point. I loved Caleb's Crossing, despite the fact that its premise is a bit cliche too.
