Dialect and slang in conversation is fine but even there I sometimes dislike it. To write the book that way? No thanks.
mutilated English. hahahaha
I 100% agree that reading a whole book filled with 'slang' or from an uneducated POV can be difficult and tiresome. I've dropped books before because of such a reason. Problem is if they only do the native slang for part of the book you can end up not being able to decipher that part. And you can't have an uneducated 'night-worker' speaking proper english otherwise people could complain its not authentic. pretty big conundrum.
Hopefully you'll be able to 'sink' into the character and won't notice it as much - i imagine that was their goal having the whole book spoken in such a way. sounds annoying. good luck :)

I've already decided to stick with it for a while longer, see if I can get engrossed in it enough to stop noticing the language. The book got good reviews.
