Yes, it would be a good book for them. I liked that she honest about her feelings and expectations. Her situation is unique like all children feel their situation is and she has her highs and lows during this transition. She has always wanted a sister and in the book, she gets that chance yet we read how that works out for her. One of her parents ends up not being a "traditional" parent and we read how that works out for her. It was interesting how she dealt with her anxiety which would be beneficial for other children also.
