I actually started reading them because my library has a ton of them always available on Overdrive for checkout, so they've been an easy, light listen when I'm between more heavy stuff. I could tolerate his female characters at first, because I could take into account that they were written in the 50's and the plots were mildly entertaining. But yeah, several books into his catalog, and it's gotten very old. And this one was written in the 80's so there goes that excuse! I think I'm about done with Heinlein, too.
