Yeah, I just kept thinking, wait this guy hasn't really thought this thing through, has he? But still, it was a good read if you didn't think too deeply about the logic.

I'm afraid the logic would be something I'd find myself hard pressed to overlook. :D (Except in a book by an author whose fan I am. But even there, it would stand out -- it just wouldn't niggle quite as nastily, because it would likely be counterbalanced by the things that made me the author's fan to begin with.)

True. If I weren't a McCammon fan, it might have been a fatal flaw. As it was, I just decided to decide that the master vampire isn't nearly as smart as he thinks he is.
