What a very special memento -- the contents of the book is so obviously totally secondary compared to all the rest! I loved the publisher's little text on the importance of education ... and, of course, the picture of your dad as a boy and his mom. (The bookmark as well, come too think of it! :) )
As you can tell from his smirk in the photo, my dad was a little hellion who needed a lot of keeping in line.
And I loved the publisher's rant. It strikes me that the complaints about the public education system here haven't changed at all in the last 70 years. Although I do believe we have lost that 5th Freedom they were so worried about. We seem to embrace Ignorance as a virtue, these days.
