The robots were awesome, I really liked all the effects. The rest though...meh. It could have been so much better. Perfect example of the fail. Near the end one of the Jaeger pilots recognizes that he can sacrifice himself to complete the mission. He has a heartfelt little talk with someone at command, my husband turns to me and says "Am I supposed to care about that?" I said, "That was his dad I think
." He looked puzzled for a moment and then said, "I would have cared a lot more if they'd told me that at some point."

Yeah. I stopped caring and zoned out at some point during the movie. And then the robots came back on, making all my womanly parts gushy and clenchy. (Well, not my boobs. Boobs=gushy+clenchy=something really medically wrong. I think that may be an indication of near death, in fact.
