That's kind of how I felt about Buried Memories: Katie Beers story although I gave it a 5 star rating. I hated the abuse and neglect but the author did a great job of concentrating on all the things that were truly important, like how Katie Beers was a survivor and how she became a good person despite all that was done to her. It had very disturbing subject matter, the system failed that poor girl but I thought everyone involved in the case did a remarkable job making up for past mistakes. I don't know, maybe it was handled with more care, I haven't read Still Missing yet so can't really compare the two. I do know it was one of the most difficult books I've ever read yet I felt it was very important that I did read and think that so many people can truly learn many things from that book. It's always kind of hard to give a high rating for something that is so disturbing to you.

I'll have to admit I do love horror and romance though, hehe, I pretty much love reading most books but have a special fondness for fantasy, dystopian novels and YA. One of my favorite authors Elle Casey is an indie author who writes a bit of everything. Her Apocalypsis is one of the best dystopian series I've read and her War of the Fae is probably the funnest YA? Supernatural? Paranormal? I've read. So many genres seem to overlap, kinda gets confusing to me at times. Great review. Not sure if I ever want to read another disturbing account though. Stuff like that bothers me deeply.
