I was sent a link to this post by someone who felt I should apologize. In the last year, I’ve accepted how my obsession with the word retarded was pointless and inappropriate. I apologize if you were harmed by my fixation with that word.
I think I was more hurt by the fact that you'd believe I'd use the word to mock someone, to be honest. I was angry about that: words have meanings, yes, but also context matters. One definition of a word doesn't delete the other meanings, and I was trying to talk about that.
