I think the difference is, Goodreads seem to just delete it without actually looking too closely whereas here it will be taken on its own merits. Simply saying the the review that the author has given you hassle because you didnt like the book, or other such reasonable language, will be
acceptable

Sorry that kind of got away from me I think if you review a book and make it clear the author has harrassed you for NOT liking the book that will be ok. If you start name calling it may be borderline. If you are threatening or abusive that will get hidden and you may be called a troll. If thats how it works I see no problem. After all there is no need really to be threatening or abusive to get your point across and I have never actually seen that happen anyway from a reviewer side.

I understand, but he's coddling people like Melissa and Rick who will not be satisfied to hide our reviews. They will want them deleted then us banned. If he's so quick to reassure people who aren't using the site against us who have come here, I worry he'll change the rules later like GR did to appease BBA. How long before we're not wanted so they can attract "successful" authors like Melissa, Rick, Jaq (who had already commented on the post), and others? Makes me leery to write any reviews because they will always be flagged by STGRB. :(

I wouldnt worry without good cause. Write your reviews as you see fit (I after all want to read them ha!) and trust that when Mr Piaskowski reassured the REVIEWERS that their reviews would always be safe (even if hidden) and that assuming there were no threats or abuse that it was ok to say things about the author in a reasonalbe manner, that he also meant that. It will be a fine line I guess but I think they can walk it. Time will tell :)

Glass half full, huh? Sounds good to me. I'd rather be optimistic than a cranky baby. Thanks for the info and I've already added a few books to read because of you. It's been a great Saturday, I'd say. :)
I agree, Angie--that's kind of unsettling. If they get their readers and the folks at STGRB to just block us and send tons of emails about our "nasty" reviews, we can get troll status because they gamed the system? I've never once written a review that wasn't about the book, but I'm still on their sidebar.

I think just let it be. People are going to do what they do no matter what. Lets not bring the Goodreads problems with us lets leave them behind and have faith that the staff of this site know the difference between genuine abuse/bullying and threatening behaviour and simply telling the truth in a reasonable manner. With swear words on occasion. Definitely often with a touch of sarcasm (well not me I don't do that well for some reason, always wished I could be more sarcastic, lol) I think they will. I expect they know whats what and will maintain a fun, friendly, yet still truthful and open environment. Have a little faith. There are nice people, there are nasty people, and whether they be reviewers, authors, astronauts or binmen, its the same the world over. Just be who you are. Always the best advice. :)
First and foremost it sounds like a response. And I don't believe in responses without questions. It doesn't even say what/who is he talking about. Drawing any conclusion from that is just unfair. We need context.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU ALL? Why are you so willing to twist things? To jump the gun?

AnHeC, STGRB has called me crazy, a bad mother, a bitch, and whore. That's just what they've written about me and they've written worse about others. Their hatred towards me is based on how I support a reader's right to review as they wish. I'm sorry if you think I'm being overly negative, but STGRB is full of nasty authors who hate readers. They will destroy this site and any site that doesn't bow to their wishes.
I don't support STGRB in any way, shape or form. I just don't believe in overreacting, especially OUT OF CONTEXT. Yes, you are being overly negative about this comment. Hell, it could even have been photosoped!

Or maybe it was sarcastic? Maybe it wasn't about reviewers but authors that abuse them? From this screenshot we don't know. It reminds me of our teacher that believed Harry Potter is the work of satan. To support that statement she quoted Voldemort. She haven't read the books, so she didn't have a CONTEXT. She didn't get the word's wrong, just didn't understand the message. So she got all riled up for nothing.

AnHeC, I will add full page SS to show exactly what Dawid said to STGRB and Rick Carufel. His original comments also remain on their blogs so you can check if you have concerns that I have photoshopped anything. In reality, I have no interest in damaging this site. I'd like my friends to have a safe place to review which is why I was concerned to see Dawid on the blogs of people who want to destroy GR and now BL.
God no, I didn't suspect YOU of photoshoping anything, I just know nothing is below STGRB. And I mean nothing. They're a disease. Mostly they remind me of a little yapping dog that keeps following you (and you're trying to ignore it, but no, it barks louder and louder...) So annoying.

I will go to their site and see for myself. I avoid going there, because I respect my nerves (or I could just snap and kill someone, so that's also for safety of society).
Oh, and if they're giving mythical statuses, I want' to be an elf. Or a wizard. No, banshee! That sounds like fun! Don't make me a troll, I demand at least status of an orc! A proper, oldschool, warcraft one.

Sorry I misunderstood. I truly wish STGRB photoshopped the comment because BL is really cool and I love how personalized our blogs can be. Oh, and if I never read the world troll again, I'll be happy. We call them goblins on my blog because I just can't tolerate the T word anymore. I'd vote to be a banshee too. Sounds badass. :)

Every potential "troll" will be monitored by us first. It's not like one person creates 10000 BL accounts to block one user - it won't work. You guys are 100% safe! :-)
Thank you for responding! That makes me feel a lot better that it's not just by numbers. (:

And we are not helping anyone else but our users.
I think people are a bit paranoid right now, that's all :) Actually I believe it mostly blew over already.

Thanks for your comment, Dawid. I'm really enjoying BL and your customer service has been aces! :)

Thats good to hear Dawid and thanks for the reassurance ;-) We appreciate that after our less then friendly experiences on Goodreads for being book lovers, readers and reviewers. We are refugees for a reason ;-) Indeed, your customer service is marvellous. Special thanks to Kasia, though.

Thank you Mr Piaskowski. For Reiterating what I knew you said in the first place :) Rest easy folks. Just do your thing :)
