Sounds like an excellent book - I look forward to reading more updates.
Side question, are you reading by candle light or flashlight? and is it difficult?
I'm reading by flashlight, and it's not too difficult, aside from having to hold the darn thing while juggling turning the pages. I also sort of cheated and read by lamplight for a couple chapters. Candlelight's a bit hard to do (I've tried it in the past when our electricity went out once), but I'm wanting to try gathering either a larger candle, or multiple candles so I can stop holding the flashlight.
It's a different kind of experience, though. I had to stop reading for a while so I could turn the lights back on and read something else, otherwise, I probably would have gotten a little bit further in this book. I'm almost thinking I should have chosen something a bit shorter, but this book is so much fun that I'm sure I'll fly through it the next time I pick it up.
It would be difficult to read by candle I imagine, they don't shed much light even when there's quite a few of them. haha don;t worry your secret is safe with me! :P I must admit to always having a fascination with reading by torch light, you know all those movies and tv shows and kids are secretly reading in bed under the covers by torch light? well I've never done it, it kinda feels like I missed out on something, but not sure how I would feel doing it as an adult, lol.
What about those clip on book lights? those are similar to a torch, and they're cheap. Might help with the juggling issue.
I remember having one of those a few years back for my Nook e-reader (before they started adding those nifty backlights), and it was way too bright. The light reflected off the e-reader's surface and hurt my eyes too much. I had a hard time adjusting it so that it would still illuminate the e-reader, but not bounce a concentrated point of light at my face. So I kind of just abandoned it and got myself a bedside lamp. The softer light reflecting off the e-reader doesn't bug me as much as those powerful ones.
I guess my impression of clip-on book lights is not a good one, though there are probably plenty of nicer designs than what I had bought then. And I'm wondering now if the reflect of the light will be less strain on book with paper pages as opposed to an e-reader's plastic surface, because the flashlight doesn't bug me as much, though I AM able to maneuver the light more to my liking so it illuminates the page just enough to read it. I might have to look into those book lights again.
Well if you do decided to give another one a go, keep me updated on whether its any good. Mine from years ago was quite decent, though the battery did use to run out quicker than I liked, I also only read library books back then so the pages were more yellow than white to begin with, so had little chance of reflecting the light from the lamp! lol.
