I probably will. I had this book picked for another reading challenge as well, but it won't be the first DNF I've had this year, I suppose. At least I have an abundant supply of possibilities for the Serial Killer square.
I read one Brenda Novak book years and years ago and I was so turned off by it that I never had any interest in ever reading another. Though the story seems very different from the one you're reading, the problems ring similar to the one I read -- things just didn't make sense and the character was . . . dense.
I've read three different Brenda Novak series a couple years ago, and this was when I first started reading Romantic Suspense, so maybe my tolerances have changed since. While those books hadn't been wonderful or anything, they weren't terrible either--more in the mediocre, "maybe I'll just read one or two to pass the time" type of entertainment.
The female MC in this book is probably going to be the reason I call it quits. I already couldn't stand her after the first chapter, but I was hoping it would get better.
I love romantic suspense, but sometimes when I read one with an especially dense, TSTL heroine, I often wonder the same thing.
I once read a book where the heroine, who is supposed to be running from danger, doesn't even act like she's running from danger, and still has time to make sure she's wearing cute snow boots, and do her make-up and play the "getting to know you" game with the hero. I often wondered how she would have survived if she hadn't had a protector with her.
