I've tried both of Carriger's series in this world (although I admit I didn't get past the first book in the other one), and I like this one better. It's a bit juvenile, as you said, but fairly entertaining.
This was definitely more entertaining than I'd expected, so I look forward to the rest of it to see if it holds up. A lot of times I've come across series where the first book is the only good one.
