lol Right? In fact, there were a number of things where I think the author was trying to be clever, but it didn't work. Ah well, the book was enjoyable enough.
I was lost in the beginning of this one, too. I saw there is a .5 book in the series but people told me that didn't really help in understanding this one either. The Queen Victoria ghost was, odd. Pretty much felt the same way about it you did. I put the second one on my tbr because I did like the historical mystery.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one confused. It took a while for me to even understand what might be going on. I have the second one on my TBR as well (maybe if I land on the same square again for Snakes and Ladders or something =P). But I'm in no hurry to get it read. Enjoyable as it was as a historical mystery, this is no 'Veronica Speedwell' that's for sure. lol
