I thought this was a good fast paced action-suspense read too and really liked the setting plus the anthropology theme. I think it was the weird science/out there monster that made the gore okay for me, or maybe I'm just getting bloodthirsty in my old age. :) I've got the 2nd in the series and may listen to it for the monster square.
I know a lot of people prefer Reliquary to Relic, but I like the first book in the series more. Mainly because the museum setting. But it would be a great pick for the monster square.
And yeah, it was gory, but also a lot of fun. So I didn´t mind all the blood and gore.
