What a great list!!
I'm really keen to read The Silence of the Girls so am excited to see what you make of it.
The Remedy sounds fabulous, too. I've just ordered it. I hope it can build on Daniel Stashowers chapter on Koch his biography on ACD. It was a gripping chapter...and so interesting that I wish it had been longer. So, it is great to see there is an actual book about this part in both men's lives.
As for Jenseits des Tweed. I have it and have read it while road-tripping in Scotland. I thought it was a fabulous book. Some descriptions had not changed in 150+ years since it was written.
Hmmm. I haven't actually made it through Fontane's "Wanderungen durch die Mark Brandenburg" yet, but that doesn't stop me from now being curious about what he made of Scotland ...
