Thank you so much for this site! I am a transplant from Goodreads and I have to say that I just LOVE this site! I love having my own blog page and being able to follow others and connect online. It's great! I also love the interaction you have with us-I appreciate knowing the guidelines and how to fully enjoy the site! Thank you for all that you do! :)
IS there a setting so that you can post to a page that I run on facebook and not my personal facebook account? I would rather post on the facebook/swstiesbook like can do with twitter. Thanks
The GR trolls are already at work here and have imported their filth with them. I see an author attack review for Rick Carufel's book, "Stephen King Don't Know Shit" is already posted. The review in total states: Kiss my Ass. How is that anything but a direct attack on the author? How does one report abusive reviews? This is just the beginning of a huge body of negativity that is being uploaded to the site right now. These people are not book lovers they are author haters, and even more vindictive now because, as with everything, they blame authors for the changes on GR and will be seeking vengeance at the expense of this site. I am not saying all the GR refugees are bad, the vast majority are not but it only takes a few dozen well organized trolls to destroy a site and they are here.
Don't like that reviewer? Block them. Problem solved. But let me say that I'm connected with more than 700 people on BookLikes, and I haven't seen any hateful reviews yet, nor have I had to block anyone.
Search Rick Carufel and see what comes up. This isn't about blocking attacks on authors this is about preventing them here because that is what has ruined Goodreads. If allowed here this site too will be ruined.
Just like Mike said.
#6 You can create posts and publish them on your webpage, however, if BookLikes members find it assaulting or violating they can block the user who might be removed from Follower list. This means that the person with inappropriate texts might receive lower priority and may not be presented in Explore page where we present BookLikes Community.
You guys really have no idea what you're in for, do you? Only the worst element from Goodreads is coming here. The regular members have no problem with the new policy of stopping the practice of vicious personal attacks so they are staying. Only those who think it's their right and duty to trash people are coming here. I've tried to warn you but you think you know better than I do. So be it. I won't mention it again.
@The Horrors of writing - I take offence at that. I've come from Goodreads and I'm a 'regular member' there (whatever that is). I have been having fun here so far, importing my books and trying to play about with the templates. I'm not bothering anyone and don't consider myself to be 'the worst element'. To say 'only' the worst element is coming here is highly offensive and antagonistic.
Can I just say that I love number 7...thank you both that. And I will gladly wait for my import to see my books on virtual shelves again, love it! I am another Goodreads refugee and very thankful for the members who suggesting this site.
Hi Silver sorry for the broad generalization, let me rephrase that statement.
Among the refugees from goodreads are the worst element and I in no way meant to imply that every refugee is of that ilk.
Many are appalled by the inept handling of the situation. I hope that clarifies and unruffles any feathers I may have ruffled. Again Sorry Silver :)
I do have a question for the folks who run this site.
If an author makes a request to have their intellectual property removed from this site will that request be honored?
On goodreads they believe that once content shows up from whatever source they own it. They
absolutely refuse to remove it stating their relationship with Amazon as justification to refuse requests from copyright holders to remove their intellectual property against their wishes.
I'm here from GRs and I want to say how much I love this site! It feels so warm and welcoming, like a cozy home. I love having my own blog space and I'm working on figuring out how to customize it and viewing other people's blogs is such a treat. It's so easy to check out what everyone is writing about. I love how quickly Dawid answers people's questions. I love that BLs is asking what features members want here. How wonderful is that? Thank you for making so many new members feel good about joining Booklikes!
I left Goodreads for this site, as well, and am highly impressed by how quickly you guys reacted to the STGRB... issue, where you researched them before coming out with a definite statement. As someone who's had her physical appearance mocked on that site, in an attempt to silence reviews they disagree with, I'm even more impressed with your welcoming stance towards all us transplants from Goodreads as well as the fact that you don't seem to be willing to bow down to those attempting to silence us.
Thank you, Dawid, and thank you Booklikes! I'm really enjoying the customization on this site far more than I was enjoying Goodreads.
Tell me this has anything to do with reviews Dawid. This in character assassination then same these same trolls have done on goodreads and Amazon. this is the specialty of most of your new members, vendettas and personal attacks, criminal stalking, harassment, bullying, defamation and libel all aimed at destroying the careers of indie writers. This is their game. They care nothing about books or reviews and everything about the power they have to cause damage to the reputations, livelihood and careers of indie authors. Please remove this review and the troll who posted this filth. http://tracy.booklikes.com/post/569599/phospheindz
PS: Is there a way to help you with the covers of the books? Some of them are misplaced
