Ambitious list! I've read Anna Karenina, Game of Thrones, The Fountainhead, The Stranger, Vampire Academy, & Harry Potter. I started Dragonfly in Amber, but got really bogged down and gave up. I plan to read it at some point.
Yeah, I tend to be a bit overly optimistic when it comes to my monthly reading lists, haha... there's just so much that I want to read! I've actually done pretty well the last few months with completing them and even reading additional books that I didn't think I'd have time for, but I know that's going to change at the end of this month. I'll probably have to narrow it down to 3-4 books a month, if that.
What did you think of The Fountainhead and The Stranger? Those are the two that I'm most nervous about.
I despise Ayn Rand. I think she is an overrated ideologue, her fiction is turgid and histrionic, and her characters are wafer-thin caricatures. The Fountainhead was slightly better than Atlas Shrugged, but that isn't saying much. I read Camus in high school, and remember not really liking it.
Yeah, that's pretty much what I've heard... my book club on tumblr will be going on a hiatus once school starts in the fall to accommodate everyone's busy schedules, but we've decided to have a Read-at-Your-Own-Pace list for the school year that will include all of the books that Charlie reads in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and I volunteered to prep the reader's guides for To Kill a Mockingbird, The Fountainhead, and The Stranger. It was wonderful to read To Kill a Mockingbird again, but I've been putting off the other two... but now, it's time for me to get started on those. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised by them, though!
